Q4 2008 Wedding Industry Index

Results for the Q4 2008 wedding industry index show current sales are mixed as some businesses experienced an increase in sales while others are seeing a decline. Amounts spent by couples are certainly on the decline as is the amount of couples getting married. There is some glimmer of hope as businesses report an increase in sales expectations.

The average cost of a wedding in 2008 falls by 24%

Economic trouble takes its toll on the average wedding cost. The average cost of a wedding in 2008 was $21,814. This is a 24% decline over the 2007 average of $28,704. The estimated 2008 market value is $61.4 billion.
