Wedding bookings start to slip, as expected

Weekend updates and subsequent discussions with formal wear operators said ongoing delivery of units remain on track. Early results and forecasting say prom units are stable but the real question mark remains weddings.

An ongoing EFN investigation continues to suggests weddings will be soft for the remainder of 2009 and into 2010, as economic factors continue to impeded the planning of formal events. The statement continues to be investigated with reliable sources outside the formal wear business with other wedding sources.

One source said weddings in the Kansas City area remain very depressed. "I don't see a very rosy future," said one source. The same is being said in California and south west markets, and also in the north east.

Southern and mid western markets that have always remained constant through better times and not so good times report the same stable numbers in both prom and wedding activity. In Florida's Dade county, the best reports to date say a slight increase in wedding activity is being experienced.

This news source continues to watch the rest of 2009 and 2010, expecting a dramatic drop in weddings requiring formal wear. August remains suspect to being one of the worst on record.

Please feel free to distribute this information to whomever you wish. We encourage you to print, fax and e-mail it to anyone and everyone you feel may benefit from it.
